The project was completed on a flat roof with a PVC roofing membrane and EPS thermal insulation installed on a concrete substrate. The roof could not accommodate the additional load of a conventional ballasted mounting system. The structural assessment specified a maximum photovoltaic system load of 21 kg/m². For this reason, the K2 V/Z mounting system, which has the lowest weight in this configuration, was recommended. The customer used SOLATECH technical support. The following steps were carried out to ensure the successful completion of the project:
- The fastener supplier carried out a pull-out test to determine the load-bearing capacity of the substrate and establish the correct fastener length.
- A structural calculation was prepared to determine the required number of SOLATECH DIM PVC anchoring points in combination with the K2 mounting system.
- A qualified contractor was recommended for the installation of the DIM PVC elements.
- A high-voltage spark test was carried out in two stages – before installation to identify any defects in the roofing membrane and after the installation of DIM PVC XL to confirm correct installation and ensure there was no risk of water penetrating the roof assembly.
